SENIOR ARCHAEOLOGIST
The Louis Berger Group, Inc. solicits applications for the position of Senior Archaeologist in either our Cary, North Carolina or Richmond, Virginia office. We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated individual wishing to pursue quality archaeological research and seeking career advancement in a cultural resource management context.
We are seeking a Ph.D. or M.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology with expertise in Southeastern U.S. prehistoric archaeology. A minimum of five years supervisory experience in archaeological survey and evaluation as well as in directing data recovery projects in the context of Section 106 compliance is required. Experience in ArcView and ArcInfo GIS as well as in MicroStation is desired. Specialized skills in ceramic and /or lithic technologies are strongly desired.
Demonstrated experience in the preparation of data recovery plans and research designs, technical reports, and proposals/budgets for projects is required. The preferred candidate will have working familiarity with federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing cultural resources. Ability to communicate directly with a variety of clients in the public and private sector is a necessity, as is the ability to work both on own initiative and as part of a team with other cultural resource professionals in the company. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to meet budget and schedule requirements.
Competitive salary negotiable based on experience. Full benefits package includes vacation, sick leave, holidays, medical/dental (free to employee), life/disability insurance, 401K, etc. This is a full-time, salaried position, not a project appointment. Successful applicant must be willing to relocate to the Raleigh or Richmond metropolitan area and will be expected to travel extensively for project assignments. Telecommuter options are not available for this position.
